2026 Cadet Engineer Requirements
The Cadetship program involves engineers to undergo 6 months training, which consists of orientation, familiarization, lectures, and Hands-on Training on various power plant systems and procedures, including plant and unit auxiliaries, accessories and appurtenances for Maintenance and Operations, Safety, Engineering, Plant Systems and Communications, and Environmental Management to gain thorough understanding of the dispatch, contractual and operational requirements, and daily routines including safe and efficient operation of a hydroelectric power plant.
Maintenance Cadet (4 Electrical & 1 Mechanical)
The Maintenance Cadet shall:
- Be trained according to his/her discipline whether Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and Control (I&C) under a 6-month intensive training program which the curriculum is based on the current qualification card for a Maintenance Technician. The program includes classroom type instructions, hands on training and actual participation on maintenance activities.
- Be trained to perform variety of duties to develop his/her skill and confidence, exposure to plant’s working environment and shall be considered as an understudy to the Maintenance Technician, and needs to pass various assessments and tests related to the program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics and Communication, Electronics and Mechatronics Engineering graduate.
- Newly Licensed or Board Passer.
- Knowledge in the operation of hydroelectric power plant.
- General knowledge of governmental standards and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced computer skills.
Operations Cadet (1)
The Operations Cadet shall:
- Learn and understand thoroughly the System Description and Operating Instruction including theory of operation of all plant and unit auxiliaries, PLC controls, spillway radial gates, and low-level outlet (LLO) slide gates.
- Learn the fundamental theories behind water turbines, generators and transformers and understand the principle and operation of substation equipment, non-power components, and ancillary services output of the plant.
- Assist the Operations Engineer in conducting regular patrol inside the powerhouse and regular monitoring of unit and plant auxiliary performance.
- Learn the preparation of defect reports/job request/job orders for approval by the Senior Operations Engineer.
- Train and learn in the implementation of plant work and safety procedures.

- General knowledge of governmental standards and regulatory requirements.

Environmental Management Cadet (1)
The Environmental Management Cadet shall:
- Undertake task related to environmental advocacy and compliance including but not limited to the establishment of Ecological Learning Center (ELC), Environmental Database, and Grow-a-Tree for the San Roque Watershed Program.
- Assist in procurement, delivery, set-up, and installation of required ELC components.
- Update floral compendium included in the arboretum and provide support in labelling tree species for augmentation of the arboretum stock.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS Forestry or other related field of expertise.
- Basic knowledge in Forestry (taxonomy, inventory, mapping, etc.).
- Professional License in Forestry is an advantage.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
