SRPFI Receives DSWD PaNata Ko sa Bayan – Salamat Po Award, Given “Hall of Famer” Distinction

San Roque Power Foundation, Inc. (SRPFI) was once again recognized by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) – Field Office I as the Region’s 2022 Pagkilala sa Natatanging Kontribusyon (PaNata Ko) sa Bayan – Salamat Po Awardee under the best NGO Category during their 72nd Anniversary Celebration held at Hotel Ariana in Bauang, La Union on March 9, 2023.
As part of this annual celebration, DSWD recognizes its partners and stakeholders for their contribution to the attainment of its goals and objectives in providing maagap at mapagkalingang (prompt and caring) social protection programs and services through the Pagkilala sa Natatanging Kontribusyon (PaNata Ko) sa Bayan Award.
The San Roque Power Corporation (SRPC) implements through the SRPFI, a community development model named Project RANG-AY (Resource Access to Nurture Growth and Accelerate Development in the CommunitY) which combines the various corporate social responsibility (CSR) interventions on livelihood and enterprise development, education and health, and environment into a development model that focuses on facilitating sustainable livelihood through access to basic community capitals: human, social, financial, physical, and natural. One of the notable features of the said community development model is its microfinance-cooperative hybrid that provides access to livelihood project financing, area development, capacity-building, wealth management, marketing assistance, and donor linkaging. The Baro A Namnama Multipurpose Cooperative (BANMPC) currently has 504 members all coming from the host communities of the San Roque Multipurpose Project (SRMP).
“Our commitment to the people of San Manuel, San Nicolas (Pangasinan) and Itogon (Benguet) during the construction of the San Roque dam is to provide them with alternative livelihood. However, we aim to do more by building sustainable communities with the support of the SRPC Management,” says the SRPFI Executive Director (and concurrent SRPC Vice President for Corporate Affairs), For. Tommy T. Valdez.
With this year’s award, the SRPFI was given the “Hall of Famer” distinction for having been an awardee for three consecutive years (2019, 2021, and 2022).
